West Indies set to tour Bangladesh in Jan-Feb

West Indies cricket team is expected to tour Bangladesh in January-February, with the teams set to play three ODIs and two Tests as part of the Cricket World Cup Super League and World Test Championship respectively. Previous schedule also includes two twenty20 games but in new proposed tour, only test and ODI series is played between Bangladesh and West Indies.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) have approved in principle the tour of Bangladesh, subject to the finalisation of medical and logistical details. The approval was made following a recommendation from CWI’s Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), having received a detailed report from the pre-tour visit of Bangladesh by CWI Director and Member of the CWI and ICC MAC, Dr Mansingh, and Security Manager, Paul Slowe.

CWI will continue discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the West Indies Players’ Association to fine-tune the various arrangements in order to ensure the health and safety of the players and team management unit.

Should the series go ahead, it will mark Bangladesh’s first international cricket since Zimbabwe toured the country in February and March earlier this year. Meanwhile, West Indies will be looking to bounce back following their disappointing T20I and World Test Championship series defeats to New Zealand in recent weeks.

Draft tour schedule:

As per the fixtures released the Caribbean side is set to reach Dhaka on January 10. Following one week quarantine the visitors will play a one-day warm-up game before taking on hosts Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series. The first two matches of the series will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on January 20 and 22 while the third will be played at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on January 25.

Following the ODI series, West Indies will play a four-day warm-up game before facing Bangladesh in the first of the two-match Test series scheduled to start on February 7 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium? The second and the final Test of the series will be played in Dhaka from February 11.
