Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of Border-Gavaskar Test series
Ravindra Jadeja suffered a blow to his left thumb (dislocated thumb) while batting on Day 3 of the third Border-Gavaskar Test that concluded on Monday. He later went for scans and the results have shown that he has dislocated his thumb.
The left handed all-rounder will now consult a hand specialist in Sydney before he returns to India. He will then head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of his injury. Jadeja will not be available for the fourth and final Test against Australia to be held in Brisbane from January 15-19 at the Gabba.
While other concerns for the Indian team is that Injured Jasprit Bumrah also miss Brisbane Test. India are already without the sevices of all rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been ruled out due to a dislocated thumb. There will also be concern over Ravichandran Ashwin (back) and Hanuma Vihari (hamstring) who batted through pain during the final day of the Sydney Test.
Bumrah is the third Indian pacer after Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, to be injured during this series. Before this, KL Rahul sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets at the MCG during Team India’s practice session, The wicketkeeper-batsman will need about three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength.
India’s pace reserves include Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan who had been included in the squad ahead of the Sydney Test likely to debut for India.
