Date: August 20, 2020
Match: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, 4th T20
Venue: Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad
Time: 03:00 AM IST, 09:30 PM GMT, 05:30 PM LOCAL
Prediction: According to us, Guyana Amazon Warriors likely to win the match
- Guyana Amazon Warriors are more skilled players of spin and have a few top spinners in their bowling attack as well
- St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have a solid top-order
Having a youthful team as the Warriors do is going to be an advantage in this edition of the CPL, players have to be able to grow quickly and continue to play under a tiring schedule. The Guyana Amazon Warriors may not be playing at home but their side is moderately well-suited for the situations they are going to get in Tarouba. Expecting at least three routine spinners to be playing every single match for them. Imran Tahir, Chris Green, and Chandrapaul Hemraj, all three of whom had a very great season last year. This provides them a lot of adaptabilities particularly as Keemo Paul can perform as a seam-bowling all-rounder. With Romario Shepherd and possible Naveen-ul-Haq in the team, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have six high-grade bowling options. The batting is going to be led by Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford, and Ross Taylor in there as well. This is a very tough batting lineup. Hopefully, they manage to use all the power-hitting support at their end. The big benefit for the Warriors is that they play and bowl spin very well.
The Patriots are looking a bit unbalanced in terms of team balance. For the Patriots to convert matches on their side, their batting needs to deliver consistently. They have three very good T20 batsmen in Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis, and Ben Dunk. Dinesh Ramdin has also proved himself to be a very valuable batsman in this format of the game. It will be interesting to see how well Chris Lynn performs on the slower pitches. Evin Lewis can be a bit late to start and can go through some disturbing phases of form. A lot will depend on how he begins and whether he is able to stay fit for the complete CPL. The Patriots have a stable pace bowling unit with the likes of Alzarri Joseph, Sheldon Cottrell, and Sohail Tanvir. They do not have too many quality spin choices and so it looks like Ish Sodhi is going to be the star spinner for the Patriots this season. The potential to win is there but just can’t bounce the feeling that the Patriots are not well-tuned for the hurdle that is going to come their way.

About League: The 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) will be the eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league in the West Indies. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a request was made in June 2020 to play all of the matches in Trinidad. The tournament is scheduled to start from 18 August and end on 10 September 2020. The local government gave its approval for the tournament to go ahead, with all the matches taking place at two venues behind closed doors.
