Azhar, Razzaq picks Imran Khan as their Dream Pairs partner
Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood have picked Imran Khan as their partners in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Digital Pairs contest. Pakistan Cricket Team (PCB) Dream Pairs contest for Test players has gained great popularity among the cricket fans, current and former players, analyzer, and journalists. With an aim to thank the services of former and present players of Pakistan cricket, PCB’s Digital Pairs series has gained an enormous response.
Azhar Mahmood said (who played for Pakistan in 21 Tests scoring 900 runs and takes 39 wickets): I would like to make my dream pair with Imran Khan as I started playing cricket inspired by him. Imran was a hero for me and my favorite cricketer. Among at present, a lot of bowlers, I choose Shaheen Shah Afridi; I know his capabilities well having worked with him closely. Among batsmen, I choose Babar Azam as my batting partner, he is an exceptional timer and I have seen some special innings played by him from the dressing room during my stint with the national team as bowling coach.
Abdul Razzaq said (In 46 Test appearances, Razzaq scored 1946 runs and takes 100 wickets): I want to thank the PCB for initiating the campaign which is a great way of acknowledging test stars. During my career, I played with many great cricketers and I consider it a matter of pride and honour, my dream was to bowl within tandem with Imran Khan. Among batsmen, I choose Javed Miandad, he was a legend of Pakistan and world cricket and it would have been an honour to have batted with him.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) brings an exciting opportunity for the cricket fans to come up with their favorite combinations in the Dream Pairs campaign, which begins on 29 April (Wednesday) at 2 PM LOCAL. The cricket fans are invited to write down their favorite batting (opening and middle-order) and bowling (pace and spin) pairs from a different generation of cricketers who put on Pakistan’s golden star in Test cricket on the PCB’s official Facebook page, Instagram account, and Twitter platforms. At the end of the campaign, the cricket fans will also be asked to vote for a wicket-keeper who they would want to watch.
Pakistan has produced some of the greatest cricket players and legends who have gone on to make a mark on the most reputable and honoured format of the game. The players have been shortlisted based on the number of runs that they have scored on certain positions and the number of their wickets.
The campaign criteria are below:
- Opening batsmen (position one and two) with minimum 1,000 Test runs as openers
- Middle-order batsmen (position three to seven) with minimum 2,500 Test runs in the middle-order positions
- Fast bowlers with a minimum of 75 Test wickets
- Spinners with minimum 75 Test wickets
- Wicketkeepers with at least 50 Test dismissals
