Afghanistan announces 16-players team to face Ireland
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named a 16-man squad for the upcoming men’s one-day international series’ in January against Ireland. Asghar Afghan will lead a 16-man squad to Abu Dhabi in January. The matches against Ireland will be part of the World Cup Super League.
Afghanistan v Ireland series will be played as part of the inaugural ICC Cricket World Cup Super League (2020-2023) are essentially World Cup Qualifier matches, as the League will serve as part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualification process.
Ireland have already reached Abu Dhabi, ACB officials revealed that they are waiting for the visas to fly to UAE. Some of the leading Afghanistan cricketers like of Rashid Khan are currently playing in the ongoing Big Bash League, they are expected to join the squad before the beginning of the series.
